Pebbles thrown across the lake:
The detachment from my mom’s promises
Comes out in anger
With each toss.
The angle at which I stand,
Powerful and stern,
Looks back at my reflection.
My purple dress seems
To float in the water.
Staring out into the horizon
As the sun beams onto the lake,
I start to feel a sense of relief:
A chemical reaction between the light and my emotions.
Then, a sudden change:
I am at ease,
I am relaxed,
I am no longer angry.
The pebble is now softly tossed.
The ripples of my heart are calm once again.
